Malaysia's silicon wafer-fabrication venture is gambling on a global semiconductor boom to dig its way out of a deep financial hole. Malaysian Prime minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi is supporting the wafer-fabrication ventures, despite pulling the plug on some costly projects inherited from the Manhathir era.
