Taiwan's democracy takes a new step
Article Abstract:
Voters in Taiwan proved the political analysts wrong once again when they gave a marginal victory to the pan-blue alliance of rightists parties - the KMT, People First Party and New Party. Though the election outcome is being interpreted as a rejection of President Chen Shui-bian and his pro-independence leanings, the fact is that Taiwan's democracy is heading towards the two-party system rather rapidly.
