Christopher, Qian manage to soothe tension between U.S., China, but issues are unresolved
Article Abstract:
State Sec. Warren Christopher's 90-minute meeting with Chinese Vice-Premier and Foreign Minister Qian Qichen have helped delay the deterioration of US-Sino relations. Although no concrete agreements were signed during the meeting, Christopher was able to convince Qian to hold two future meetings to resolve issues which have affected US-Sino relations. Some of the issues that need to be addressed include China's demand for a US adherence to the one-China policy and the US demand for the release of detained American human rights activist Harry Wu.
