Ciba-Geigy, Sandoz merger leads to big account moves
Article Abstract:
The planned merger between Swiss pharmaceutical companies Sandoz AG and Ciba-Geigy AG could mean that the new organisation will work with fewer advertising agencies. Both companies use dozens of ad agencies across the world and a rationalization process is inevitable. The merger will particularly advantage Young and Rubicam, whose strategic alliance with Allcomm Business Communication could provide it with a number of new marketing opportunities. The new merged drugs company, to be known as Novartis, is forecast to have a 4.4% share of the global pharmaceutical market.
