Cizkovicka Cementarna covers 10% of domestic cement consumption
Article Abstract:
Cizkovicka cementarna (CC) (Cizkovice, Czech Republic), cement company, covers about 10% of the total Czech cement consumption. The company has a capacity of 1 mil t of cement per year. Its cement-products range is complemented by ground limestones for the desulphurising of thermal power stations, the proceeds for which are growing. In 1998 CC produced 673,000 t of cement, 40% of which were exported to Germany and Austria. In 1998 the firm saw a net profit of 172 mil Kc. CC has a stock of 2.34 bil Kc and a majority stake held by Societe de Developpement Industriel Lafarge (France).

Wine consumption increases

Czech Republic: Local per-capita wine consumption increased by 1 lt to 17 lt in 1999 compared to 1998. A total of 20 Czech firms have a 66% decisive share on the domestic natural wine market. Small-scale producers have a 20% share on the market. A 14% share is covered by imported wine. Bohemia Sekt, Ceskomoravska vinarska (Stary Plzenec, Czech Republic) has a 75% dominant share on the sparkling wine market. The second largest sparkling wine producer, which raises its results by 20% per year on average, is the sparkling wine producer Soare Sekt (Jablonec nad Nisou, Czech Republic).

Article Abstract:
Czech Republic: Local per-capita wine consumption is about 13.6 lt per year in 2000. The consumption is increasing slightly. Nearly 9% of total Czech alcohol consumption are represented by wine. The number of wine consumers that are orientated towards quality and not price is increasing. The total volume of Czech wine production was 412,440 hl in 1998/99 compared to 250,000 hl in 1997/98, 470,000 hl in 1996/99 and 278,800 hl in 1995/96.
