Article Abstract:
Ronald Ziolo of Xerox has discovered a version of ferric oxide that is strongly magnetic at room temperature and partially transparent. The material, formed of crystals only nanometers wide, has potential uses in refrigeration, color toners and super-dense data storage.

Xerox has finally found an application for a selenium-based dry film it discovered by accident in 1964. The product, now called Verde, does not need processing and is less expensive to produce than traditional film.
