The function of the gates: The social construction of security in gated developments
Article Abstract:
The way respondents discussed about the gates in access-controlled developments in Canada is explored on the basis of the case studies of communities with access-controlled developments. Respondents marketing or inhibiting enclaves are conflicted in their settlements about the relationship of gated projects to security concerns.
