Coke expects sales in China to stay strong

Coca-Cola Co. predicts that its sales in China will continue to see "strong double-digit growth" for the indefinite future. The company has 21 joint-venture bottling plants scattered throughout China. It will soon finish the construction of 10 additional plants in the country. This will increase Coca-Cola's total number of Chinese plants to 24 by the middle of 1999. China had previously raised concerns about permitting the company to expand its operations.

China gambles on Yangtze River
Article Abstract:
The flow of the Yangtze River has been stopped by the Chinese government as part of its major reservoir project. The $24 billion (20.4 billion euros) project could provide clean energy to Chinese consumers. Opponents however, have raised fears about the project?s impact.
