Kimberly-Clark, Procter & Gamble and SCA have dominated the disposable diaper subsector of the disposable paper product market's personal sector in Benelux from 1993 to 1997. Kimberly-Clark with its Huggies brand, Procter & Gamble with its Pampers brand, and SCA with its Librero brand, captured two thirds of the value sales of the sector. Traditional leaders in the market such as Procter & Gamble and SCA were significantly affected by strong competition among themselves including Kimberly-Clark. The three companies were also negatively affected by good performance from smaller companies and private labels.

Both companies sell disposable paper products in the Benelux market under the Huggies brand for disposable diapers, Kotex for sanpro products, Scottex toilet and Kleenex facial tissues brand. Kimberly-Clark is ranked the second largest disposable paper products in Benelux with market value share of 17%. Kimberly-Clark also controls 28% and 21% in the tissue and household products sectors respectively.

The Hygiene Products arm of SCA posted sales of SEK24,131 million in 1996 with operating profits of SEK2,323 million in 1996, up by 70.1% from 1995. Meanwhile, the firm, which has a combined annual production capacity of 113,000 tonnes of tissue in various facilities in Benelux region, secured a market share value of 22% in the personal sector in 1997, and 9% respectively in tissue and household sectors.
