Company profile: 3DD the modelmakers
Article Abstract:
Three Dimensional Developments (3DD) is a modelmaking consultancy, producing crafted models to order. An early project was SDG's Spitalfields market project which involved several architectural practices. The company employs 25 full-time people and it is organized along the lines of an architectural practice. It has made heavy investments in CADCAM equipment and software, but is a lean operation with no borrowings. Once a model specification is agreed on, a team is assigned and there is detailed monitoring and client liaison throughout. There is low staff turnover, achieved by concentrating on personal development.

Article Abstract:
Britain's urban parks are the subject of a special lottery restoration fund scheme if they were created over 30 years ago and have some heritage merit. The Urban Parks Programme (UPP) definition of parks incorporates other outdoor spaces including town squares, seaside promenade gardens, historic cemeteries and memorial gardens. Most awards so far are at the planning stage, with some being formally awarded funding.
