Compaq powers up in Japan: company plans big expansion of sales force
Article Abstract:
Personal computer firm Compaq Computer is set to expand its sales efforts in the Japanese market. Compaq Japan's president, Kuniaki Fujimoto expects the market to stabilize within the second quarter of 1997 and is preparing the company to compete more effectively for potential new orders. The firm has had a difficult time in asserting its market share over the past four years, managing only about 3% due to tough competition. Things are expected to get better as more firms replace aging mainframe units with smaller, more flexible personal computer networks.
