Viagra gets quick approval in Japan, opening big sales frontier for Pfizer
Article Abstract:
Pfizer Inc.'s Viagra impotence drug was given unusually rapid approval by Japan's Ministry of Health and Welfare. The approval means the opening up of what could be a very lucrative market for the Viagra drug. Viagra's Japanese unit is expecting to begin selling the drug in Japan by February or March 1999. The unit would not predict how many sales the drug would see in Japan. However, one analyst predicts that the drug will sell more than 10 billion yen in 1999.
