Portuguese parties set out plans
Article Abstract:
Privatisations in Portugal are set to raise around $4.7 billion in 1996 and 1997, according to the plans of the Social Democrat (PSD) government. The opposition Socialists (PS) are also committed to privatisation, so the programme will go ahead even if there is a change of government. However, observers believe that the ambitious targets set by finance minister Eduardo Catroga are unlikely to be achieved.
