Luftwaffe gets new perspective on the battlefield
Article Abstract:
Dornier GmbH, a unit of DaimlerChrysler Aerospace, has delivered its Aerial Imagery Exploitation System (AIES) to the German Air Force. The AIES, a containerized multisensor reconnaissance imagery exploitation system, is the ground component of the tactical system being used by the Luftwaffe's Aufklarungsgeschwader 51 at the Schleswig-Jagel Air Base near the Danish-German border. Dornier's AIES offers such innovations as simultaneous display and synchronization of both digital maps and multisensor data.

Barco boost for FLORAKO program
Article Abstract:
BarcoView has received a contract from Raytheon Co to supply performance PCI graphics controllers for Switzerland's FLORAKO project. Raytheon will integrate BarcoView's PVS 5600M with a HP C360 computer that will drive Sony's 20x20-in high-resolution color CRT display as part of the FLORAKO Operational Display Console. By Jan 2001, BarcoView is scheduled to deliver the PVS 5600M graphics controllers, which provide 32MB of memory and record and playback capability.

Competition intensifies for truck training system
Article Abstract:
The German Army is conducting a one-year trial for competing truck driver training systems from DaimlerChrysler Aerospace-Dornier and STN Atlas Elektronik. The tests will commence in Apr 1999 and will determine the supplier of around 67 training systems that include 200 simulators for delivery by 2001. The truck training systems are required by the German Army's equipment for training drivers of wheeled vehicles program.
