Concrete community for South Bank's Coin Street
Article Abstract:
Innovative new methods were required by builders constructing new parking facilities and residential apartments in Coin Street, London, mainly due to the close proximity of the building site to the River Thames. Concrete slabs were used to ensure the below-ground parking facilities were strong and stable enough to support additional residential weights, taking into account the water table and soil composition of the area. The building work is part of an on-going community project to return derelict land to the local population.
