Copyright battle flares over Lifschutz Davidson bridge
Article Abstract:
Westminster City Council's claim of ownership to the copyright relating to planned new footbridges each side of Hungerford Bridge, is to be challenged by solicitors acting for Lifschutz Davidson. This follows plans by the council to develop the design based on an adopt and build approach. It denies it has misled the design team and competition judges, and claims the design team was aware of the approach. The council has reduced the design team's fee and the team believe that it now represents a minimum fee, way below the amount allowed for in the competition budget..

A beacon for shoppers: Lifschutz Davidson's design for a Sainsbury's supermarket and petrol station puts to good use a blighted edge-of-town site in Watford
Article Abstract:
Lifschutz Davidson was the architect chosen by Sainsbury's to design a new supermarket and petrol station on a site next to the Dome Roundabout in North Watford. The store had to reflect the characteristics of the surroundings and meet the specific needs of the local community. The modern design concept is emphasised by the fascia and entrance which comprises a folded steel canopy. The steel structure is enclosed by silver profiled cladding. The petrol filling station comprises upswept folded metal bays supporting a central clear patent glazed bay.
