Credibility test: Tonga seeks Russian satellite deal
Article Abstract:
Tonga-based Friendly Islands Satellite Communications (Tongasat) wants to lease or jointly own a Russian Gorizont satellite for telecommunications use over the Pacific. Success in talks with satellite marketing organization Glavkosmos could help Tongasat gain credibility in the satellite telecommunications industry. Having no satellite in operation, Tongasat has been criticized as an opportunistic middleman trying to obtain rights to desirable orbital slots from the International Frequency Registration Board in order to sell them later on.

But is it safe? Sea and air accidents, piracy plague cargo industry
Article Abstract:
The cargo industry has been shaken by increasing incidents of air mishaps, as well as accidents and piracy at sea. The aviation freight industry has strict regulations for inspection of aircraft machinery and training of personnel. The marine cargo industry, on the other hand, has been negligent in devising improved ship designs and training the crew in sea operations. Meanwhile, the rising threat of pirates in the Straits of Malacca has become a major problem for the cargo business in Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia.
