Credit cards bring surprises; currency swings, added fees mean elastic costs
Article Abstract:
Consumers should know the paper trail involved in credit-card purchases so that they will not be surprised when the price of a certain item is higher in the credit card statement than when they bought it. For instance, submitting transactions to credit-card companies such as Mastercard and Visa takes a month. Conversion delays, rate markups and the volatility of a currency are the other factors that add up to the extra costs of purchased goods.

Y2K may attack at home: who will fix your PC by 2000? It's up to you
Article Abstract:
People who are employing computers to monitor and keep track of their finances are very much vulnerable to the Millennium Bug or the year 2000 data change problem. Spreadsheet programs such as Microsoft's Excel are the most affected. Problems in computer hardware or software will make long-term mortgage-payment tables worthless and confuse retirement-savings spreadsheets. Hardware and software purchased before late 1997 should be tested to see if they are Y2K compliant.
