Cuba: get your man in Havana
Article Abstract:
Cuba is extremely keen to attract foreign investment. Some companies with US connections are nervous because of the risk of being sued in the US for trading with Cuba, but foreign governments are opposing this legislation. Cuba is offering very attractive incentives and a workforce desperate to earn good money. Foreign investors have already promised over $5 billion since trade was opened in 1991. Experts believe that, when the US lifts its embargo, investment could rise to $15 billion a year, so companies are advised to get their Cuban business established before then.

Article Abstract:
Environmental pressure groups are becoming increasingly well-organised in their attempts to prevent projects which they perceive as causing environmental damage. Companies are having to change their attitudes towards these groups as a response to the groups' improved communication systems and global contacts, and to the increased support for environmental issues amongst consumers and shareholders. Some big companies have funded counter-pressure groups. Others are working more closely with environmental groups to find areas of compromise and co-operation.

Two is company
Article Abstract:
A quarter of all new businesses formed in the UK begin as partnerships, even though partnerships now tend to be given only limited attention in modern business culture. A partnership can bring considerable advantages, but it is vital that the partners establish between themselves how they are going to work. It is important to have a clear business strategy and to distinguish separate roles for the individual partners. Business partners do not necessarily need to be friends in order to run a successful company.
