Cultural ambitions of an island community
Article Abstract:
The Cultural Community Hormbroich on an island near Dusseldorf was founded by former property developer Karl-Heinrich Muller. He created the Museum Insel Homroich, and restored existing military structures on a nearby ex-Nato rocket launching base, creating studios, workshops and dwellings. 11 pavilions for art and the landscape were designed by sculptor Erwin Heerich on the island, housing art from many cultures.
