Czech Republic has to prepare for quotas
Article Abstract:
Czech Republic: The entrance of the Czech Republic to the market of the European Union (EU) with 370 mil consumers will be a contribution to the Czech milk products industry. The Czech milk products industry has to prepare for strong competition before the entrance to the EU. The Czech milk products firms have to mainly increase its productivity of labour. A system of quotas for milk will be implemented after the entrance of the Czech Republic to the EU. Czech agricultural companies will supply over 2.5 bil lt of milk to processors in 1998 compared to 4.2 bil lt in 1989. About 500 mil lt of milk will be exported in 1998, mainly in the form of powder and butter. In 1989 the Czech Republic exported over 20% of its milk production, mainly in the form of milk powder, butter and white cheeses. There are about 60 milk products firms in the Czech Republic. Nearly all the firms have been privatised. There were 122 milk products firms in the Czech Republic in 1989. The consumption of milk and products is 190 lt per head and year in 1998 compared to 260 lt per head and year in 1989.

Logit to invest in new technologies in Czech Republic
Article Abstract:
Logit (Italy), synthetic fibres company, plans to invest over CEK 207 mil in new technologies in Podborany, Czech Republic, in 2001. The project will set up 30 new jobs. It will be supported by an investment incentive of up to CEK 90.95 mil from the Czech state. Logit spins nylon fibre into yarn for carpet production in Podborany.
