Czech heavy lorry sales
Article Abstract:
Czech Republic: A total of 3,037 lorries were sold in the Czech Republic in 2000, more compared to Norway and Finland. The structure of sold lorry makes changed in the Czech Republic during the past 15 years. The share of Scania increased from 8.8% to 15.6%, the share of Volvo from 10.2% to 14.9%, the share of Mercedes from 13.6% to 19.6% and the share of the lorry make MAN from 6.3% to 14%. Renault lorries decreased their share on the Czech market from 13.7% to 12.2%, DAF from 10.9% to 9.9% and Iveco from 19.2% to 10.6% during the past 15 years.

Tatra Koprivnice is awarded a contract
Article Abstract:
Tatra (Koprivnice, Czech Republic), lorry manufacturer, has been awarded a CEK 200 mil contract on 60 vehicles by Surgutneftegaz (Russia). Tatra supplied 470 lorries to Russia in 2000. The firm should supply a similar quantity of vehicles in 2001. It has arranged contracts on 258 vehicles of the quantity so far. Tatra saw a gross profit of CEK 191 mil in 2000 compared to a loss of CEK 2.6 bil in 1999. Its proceeds totalled CEK 4.3 bil in 2000 compared to CEK 2.8 bil in 1999. The company sold 1,632 and produced 1,686 lorries in 2000.

ZDB arranges a contract
Article Abstract:
ZDB (Bohumin, Czech Republic), metallurgy firm, has arranged a contract on the supply of steel wire ropes for the mining industry in South Africa. On the basis of the contract, Haggie from the Scaw Metals Group will take goods worth CEK 12 mil from ZDB by Apr 2001. ZDB could export products worth CEK 100 mil to South Africa in 2001.
