DANMARK SKYLDES FOR MILJODUMPING
Article Abstract:
Denmark is accused of dumping of air pollution by Nils Andersson, the director of the Swedish organisation of power plants, Kraftverksf reningen. He says it's remarkable that Danish exports of polluting coal power can continue. However, according to Knud Petersen at Energistyrelsen, the Danish energy authority, these exports are likely to decline once CO2 quotas are introduced in the Danish electricity sector. At present, the production and exports of coal-based electricity is favoured as it's not affected by taxation. In 1996, exports accounted for one third of Danish electricity production. In 1997, the share declined to about 20%.
