DECCAN AVIATION BAGS $2-MILLION CHOPPER CONTRACT

Deccan Aviation Pvt Ltd (DAPL) of Bangalore has won a $2 million per annum contract to provide chopper services to the Ravva Oilfield at Yannam in Andhra Pradesh. The company will transport men, material and other logistics and provide helicopter support services for oil exploration ad production under a two-year renewable contract. The services will be provided through a Bell 212 helicopter for the Ravva oilfield exploration, a joint venture between the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, Cairn Energy of the UK, Videocon Petroleum and Ravva Oil of Singapore. DAPL has tied-up with Bristov Helicopters of the UK to acquire the technical expertise required to execute the contract. (khr)

DECCAN AVIATION PLANS FORAYS INTO NORTHERN SKIES

Deccan Aviation of Bangalore intends to offer helicopter services to the corporate sector in Delhi and its suburbs by the end of 1998. It has already obtained license for three choppers from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. The company's also plans to expand its fleet of two Bell 206 III choppers in future. It recently began its full time operations in Hyderabad and will now start a permanent service in Chennai soon. (uh)

TATAS SPINNING OFF CHOPPER VENTURE INTO CHARTER SERVICE

Tata International Ltd, which has a marketing tie-up with McDonnell Douglas of the US to sell their helicopters, has decided to start its own commercial helicopter service from Mumbai. This is being done as they could only sell two helicopters in the last five years. To make the operation viable, the company has decided to start a non-scheduled air transport service. (khr)
