DENMARK/GERMANY: DANFOSS FLUID POWER IN MERGER
Article Abstract:
Danfoss Fluid Power, the hydraulic division of the Danish group Danfoss, is to merge with the German company Sauer Inc. by the beginning of 2000. The merge company will be the market leader on mobile hydraulics; by now, Sauer is the fourth biggest and Danfoss the fifth biggest company in the field. Production will continue as before, whereas sales and R&D departments will be integrated. The new company Danfoss-Sauer Inc. will be partly quoted on the Stock Exchange.

DENMARK:DESMI SET TO MAKE ACQUISITIONS
Article Abstract:
Desmi (former De Smithske), the Danish pump producer, is to launch an offensive and to make acquisitions in Norway, Sweden, Poland and the Baltic states. Dansk Andels Cement (DAC), the main shareholder in Desmi, has earmarked more than DKr200mn (US$24.3mn) for Desmi acquisitions. Desmi produces mud pumps, pumps for district heating and so-called smaller pumps. This offensive will entail a challenge for Grundfos, which is Desmi's rival in the above fields.
