NORDIC: CCNB IS FACING PROBLEMS
Article Abstract:
The paper writes that Coca-Cola Nordic Beverages (CCNB), the joint venture between Coca-Cola and the Danish brewery company Carlsberg, is facing several threats on the Nordic market. In Norway, Coca-Cola's former distributor Ringnes has started distributing Pepsi, and aims at doubling sales of Pepsi in a three-year period by putting pressure on prices. Nils S Andersen, chairman of CCNB, says the CCNB will not enter a price war, even though the company already has lost market market share in Norway. In Denmark, Carlsberg is planning to cut costs in sales and distribution by co-distributing soft drinks and beer. CCNB is not in favour of this policy, even though Nils S Andersen says there is no conflict between CCNB and Carlsberg.

Sweden/Norway: Bryggerigruppen to enter alliances
Article Abstract:
Bryggerigruppen, the Danish brewery group, is planning to strengthen its position in Sweden and Norway through entering alliances. MD Jorgen Worning says the group prefers co-operation and alliances to making acquisitions. The partners have not yet been found, and the paper writes that it might be difficult as major players such as Swedish Spendrups and Abro and Norwegian Hansa are controlled by families and trusts.
