DENMARK: GROWTH ON CONFECTIONERY MARKET
Article Abstract:
From 1993 to 1998, the Danish confectionery market (chewing gum excluded) grew by 14% to nearly DKr 2.7bn (USD 367mn), according to figures by the trade organisation Chokolade- og Konfektureindustriens Brancheforening and Danmarks Statistik, the Danish statistical office. 70% of the growth is attributed to imports; in 1997, confectionery imports totalled DKr 1.3bn, up from DKr 1.1bn in 1993. Domestic production has declined to DKr 70,000 tonnes annually from DKr 75,000 tonnes in the same period.
