Danske Slagterier, the trade organisation of Danish slaughter-house companies, is urging the Danish food minister Ritt Bjerregaard to persuade the European Commission to take measures against the US ban on the import of pork from the EU. Danske Slagterier accuses the European Commission of not having acted in a professional manner saying the Commission has been slow and not aggressive enough in its efforts.

DENMARK: DANISH CROWN TO INTRODUCE ETHICAL STANDARD

Danish Crown, the Danish meat producer, is to introduce a code of practice for its suppliers. This is to attract ethically aware consumers in Denmark and abroad. Danish Crown information manager Gudrun Adreasen says this code of conduct is to secure continued access to lucrative markets.
