DENMARK: INTEROUTE TO TARGET MARKET
Article Abstract:
The international telecom operator Interoute/Tele1020 is to invest more than DKr 10bn (USD 1.4bn) in a new broadband network, including 17 countries and 70 cities in Europe. One of the countries is Denmark, where Interoute will offer networking services both directly to consumers and to other operators which are competitors to Tele Danmark, the Danish telecom. Interoute was established in Denmark in 1998, and has so far obtained 42,000 subscribers. In addition, the company has 60,000 mobile phone card users in Denmark thanks to a roaming agreement with Sonofon.

DENMARK: TELIA AIMS FOR THE DANISH MARKET

Swedish phone company Telia will invest large amounts to market mobile telephony and broadband services in Denmark. This is according to Telia's CEO Jan-Ake Kark, who says he believes Telia's corporate credibility relies on a strong Nordic concentration.

Denmark: A fifth bidder for UMTS license?
Article Abstract:
Rumours of a fifth bidder for the Danish Telecommunications Authority's four UMTS licenses has caused confusion in Denmark. A fifth bidder could mean that the present bidders i.e. TDC, Telia, Orange and Sonofon, feel forced to raised their bids. Birthe Weiss, the Danish research minister, has received a complaint from a telecoms company accusing the UMTS auction unlawful as the purpose is to maximise the Danish state's earnings.
