DENMARK: YOUNG PEOPLE CHANGE TELEPHONE OPERATORS

Young and well-educated people are the most keen on changing telephone operators, according to a study by Greens for the paper. 38% of those who have changed from Tele Danmark to another operator are between 18 and 29 years of age, and another 17% are between 30 and 39 years. Tele Danmark's average subscriber is 50 years old, compared with an average age of 42 years for subscribers to other operators.

Owing to tough competition on the Danish telecom market, 60% of operators are unprofitable, according to an analysis made for the paper by Kobmandsstandens OplysningsBureau A/S JB Analyse. Tele Danmark, the Danish telecom, makes huge profits, whereas most of the new players on the market are unprofitable. The study is based on the latest annual reports by 38 companies.
