DIRCM live-fire tests
Article Abstract:
A variety of ground-to-air missiles were successfully destroyed by Northrup Grumman Corp.'s Directed Infrared Countermeasures (DIRCM) during live-fire tests at the US Army's White Sands missile range in New Mexico. The system is being developed for use by the US Special Operations and the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence in conjunction with Northrup Grumman's subcontractors British Aerospace Ltd. and GEC-Marconi. The system is designed to defend rotary- and fixed-wing aircraft, such as the Boeing Chinook helicopter.

Article Abstract:
Bell Boeing Engineering and Manufacturing has conducted nearly 500 hours of flight trials for its V-22 aircraft. The Integrated Test Team (ITT) at the Patuxent River US Navy Testing Centre, where the test flights had been conducted, performed numerous in-flight operations, including formation flying and simulated in-flight refueling. The V-22 aircraft, which also are being employed in pilot training operations, will be turned over to the Operational Test Team once ITT qualification is completed.
