DSCL SETS UP FOUR NEW STRATEGIC BUSINESS UNITS
Article Abstract:
Under its restructuring programme, DCM Shriram Consolidated Ltd (DSCL) has divided its chemicals, plastics, fertilisers, captive power and agro business into 4 new strategic business units. Its chemicals operations as well as chemicals marketing business in Kota and Bharuch have been consolidated into one strategic business unit. It has decided to appoint a separate head for each unit. Ajay Shriram and Vikram Shriram are to withdraw themselves from the day-to-day operations. Rajiv Sinha is likely to be appointed as the Deputy Managing Director of DSCL. Three of the 4 heads of the newly formed strategic units will report to Rajiv Sinha. (gs)

Moser Baer (MB) is an export oriented company that makes 84 million micro floppy diskettes per annum. It plans to set up a facility at a cost of Rs220 crore to make recordable compact discs (CDs). Jardine Fleming has invested Rs35 crore in MB through fully convertible debentures, which will be converted to equity shares at Rs30 each. It plans to avail bank loans and funds from financial institutions upto Rs150 crore and the rest from equity and internal accruals for the project. The promoters have invested Rs14.5 crore in the equity. (rk)
