DaimlerChrysler averts strike at Canada unit

DaimlerChrysler AG has reached a labor agreement with the Canadian Auto Workers (CAW). The three-year deal has averted a strike against DaimlerChrysler. A deal was reached after the CAW made some concessions on some key issues. The CAW had called on the car maker to support attempts to organize workers in the company's Canadian truck plant and in a plant run by Magna International Inc.

Kerkorian, UAW weigh employee ownership of Chrysler

Kirk Kerkorian's investment company is examining the possibility of including an employee stock ownership plan as part of its $4.5 bil cash bid for DaimlerChrysler AG's US unit.
