The population of Detroit, MI, has fallen in half over the last 40 years, as people have fled the blighted city, leaving entire blocks abandoned. The city ombudsman has proposed that the city save money by shutting down these sections and relocating those remaining.

Chinese secondary schools make 300 spaces available for Tibetan students annually, and thousands of students vie for the spots every year. The openings were first created in 1986 to prevent Tibetan parents from sending their children abroad.
