A lexicographic approach to bi-objective loading of a flexible assembly system
Article Abstract:
An approximative lexicographic approach was used in the development of a bicriterion loading and routing problem in a flexible assembly system. A linear relaxation-based heuristic was used to balance station workloads while assembly routes are established using the network flow model. The loading and routing problems were resolved through a bi-objective integer programming model, wherein the lexicographic approach was utilized to figure the sequential loading and routing procedure.

An integrated and structured approach to improve maintenance
Article Abstract:
An eight-phase approach for preventive maintenance of plants is presented. The strategy, which is based on the Deming wheel, combines concepts from information technology, decision support models and maintenance theory. Specifically, it analyzes the effectiveness and efficiency of plant management practices to minimize downtime and enhance quality control. Its application to a concrete manufacturing factory is also discussed.
