The UN-monitored demobilization of rebel UNITA troops in Angola is proceeding gradually but peacefully, and some have joined the new integrated national army. However, UNITA leader Joseph Savimbi has not yet decided to join a coalition government. Mutual mistrust keeps the country divided.
