Denmark: Oil companies critical of new tax system
Article Abstract:
The Danish tax minister's proposal for a new tax system for the North Sea oil has been met with skepticism among two major operators in the Danish oil and gas sector. The American oil company Amerada Hess says that proposal conflicts with the fundamental conditions for running an oil company. Norwegian Statoil says the proposal will not promote oil prospecting activities in Denmark in the immediate future. The tax minister's proposal aims to secure the state a bigger share of the oil profit from the North Sea.
