Denmark: Organic dairy products popular in Denmark
Article Abstract:
According to Danish-Swedish dairy giant Arla Foods' ceo Kim Nielsen, Denmark, Sweden and the UK are the biggest markets for organic dairy products in the world with Denmark leading the league. In the US, the demand for organic foods is gradually rising whereas the rest of the world and South Europe are not particularly keen on these products. Arla Foods Malaysia's Jens Tandrup says the company has launched its organic butter product in Hong Kong but expects it to take a long time before the product has reached a reasonable market share.

DENMARK:UNILEVER'S PROFITS UP THANKS TO STREAMLINING
Article Abstract:
The Danish part of the multinational Dutch Unilever group reports a loss of DKr30mn (US$3.6mn) in 2000, which is a DKr80mn improvement on 1999. The company was able to boost profits in the Danish market thanks to a major streamlining drive staged in 2000 to offset the losses caused by the tightening competition in the Danish market for groceries and consumer goods. In Denmark, Frisko Is A/S, Van den Bergh Foods A/S, Diversey Lever A/S, Lever Faberge and Unipath A/S are included in the Unilever group.
