Denmark: Banestyrelsen to invest in wireless broadband
Article Abstract:
Banestyrelsen, the National Danish Railway Agency, is planning to acquire a stake in Danske Telecom in order to acquire access to the market for wireless broadband. Danske Telecom has two licenses for setting up wireless broadband networks in Denmark. Telecoms consultancy company Netplan's MD Torben Rune points out the risks of such a venture and says Banestyrelsen should not invest in a new network that not even Sonofon is able to make a profit from. Banestyrelsen is also planning to invest in the new Tetra mobile technology that is meant for communication for emergency purposes.

DENMARK: EAC SELLS OFF STAKE TO GN STORE NORD
Article Abstract:
East Asian Company (EAC/OK), the Danish trading company, has sold off its 50% stake in EAC-GN Communication Equipment (Denmark) A/S to the Danish group GN Store Nord (GN Great Nordic), which until now has been EAC's partner in the joint venture. The sell-off is in accordance with EAC's strategy to focus on its own brands and to withdraw from operations which are not sufficiently profitable. EAC-GN Communication Equipment markets and distributes primarily advanced measuring and test equipment from GN Nettest in China and, to a lesser extent, headsets from GN Netcom.
