Denmark/Sweden: Competitors gaining on Arla
Article Abstract:
Swedish/Danish dairy company Arla's turnover has decreased by SEK600mn(US$57mn) as a result of the falling Swedish crown for the fiscal 2000/2001. The company decided on a dividend of DKr690mn for the milk producing part owners and to use DKr0.5bn for consolidation. Arla's price for milk is 1.5% higher than the average of the European competitors but as the difference was 6.6% in 1999/2000 the company's lead is decreasing. Milk prices are at present the highest since 1991/92.
