Denmark: TDC will start charging for Internet services
Article Abstract:
TDC, the Danish telecoms company, aims to start charging for the use of its Opasia Internet portal. Most of the services on Opasia are currently available to all Internet users. TDC now aims to earmark some of the services to TDC's own customers alone and let others pay a higher price for joining in. According to Christian Peytz, TDC Internet's media director, the company wants to set the tone as regards charging for Internet services. Telecoms analyst John Strand of Strand Consult says TDC's new Internet strategy seems sensible as telecoms operators are not suited to be media companies but should rather enter into partnerships.
