Denmark: Tobacco firm critical of new advertising laws
Article Abstract:
Skandinavisk Tobakskompagni, the tobacco company, is critical of the new Danish advertising law, which according to the company is discriminatory of it compared with foreign tobacco companies that are allowed to market their tobacco products under the disguise of clothing etc. Skandinavisk Tobakskompagni will not be able to do this as it signed a voluntary agreement in 1991 with the Danish health authorities to refrain from marketing other products under the name of Prince for example. This agreement does not comprise Philip Morris or R.B. Reynolds.

DENMARK:ST BENEFITS FROM TOBACCO ADVERTISING BAN
Article Abstract:
Danish tobacco company Skandinavisk Tobakskompagni (ST) may benefit from the Danish government's bill for a total ban on tobacco advertising and sponshorship. Rivals to ST will find it even more difficult to enter the market as ST has a market share of 90-95% in Denmark. ST director Claus Bagger confirms that a ban on advertising may benefit the company. ST says tobacco advertising can only move market shares, not attract new smokers.
