Denmark: Vestas anticipates orders from Japan

Vestas Wind System A/S anticipates several Japanese orders for a total of 31 major and small wind turbines worth around a quarter of billion Danish krona. Electric Power Development Co., the electricity producer partly owned by the Japanese state, is one of the companies that has placed an order for Vestas turbines. It will use 12 of Vestas's major 1.65 megawatt turbines in a wind-power station park in northern Iwate.

Vestas may win new contracts in Italy and Greece as Gamesa Energia has obtained a permit to add 517 megawatts of new capacity for the production of wind energy to the power grid. Johannes Poulsen, Vestas's outgoing CEO, says Vestas may expect to win contracts to supply wind-power stations to these projects in Greece and Italy.

Denmark: Vestas has problems with production

Vestas's factory for the production of vanes for wind-power stations in Nakskov has had to stop the four production lines at the factory due to problems with hardening the 39-meter vanes. These problems were caused by faults with material supplied by sub-contractors. 100 employees have been affected by the production stop.
