Chinese stock prices have risen with encouragement from the government. China has been affected by deflation and state enterprises have had problems borrowing from banks, while consumption has dropped. Stock markets may be helped by falling interest rates and state enterprises may be improving their profitability. There are still problems with shareholder accountability and corporate governance, and there is concern that a stock market bubble could be inflation which could be damaging when it burst.
