Article Abstract:
Overspeculation in zaiteku resulted in financial problems for Hanwa Corp and Sanrio Company Ltd. The companies share the mistakes of high investment and reliance on tokkin and trust funds, activities characteristic of the Japanese financial speculation activity, zaiteku. Hanwa, which also failed to enhance its core business of steel manufacturing, may be financially constrained to divest. Sanrio Company Ltd also overspeculated, with the difference of also spending on diversification and foreign retail operations. As a result, the company can expect returns from its enhanced manufacturing investments.

Article Abstract:
Hong Kong's Sept 17, 1995 elections for the legislative Council, the last before China takes control on July 1, 1997, saw pro-Beijing candidates lose heavily to their more defiant counterparts. The pro-democracy group won 26 of the 60 seats, led by the Democratic Party with 16; the pro-China group won 16, with the Beijing-sponsored Democratic Alliance for the Betterment of Hong Kong winning 10; and moderates won 16, 10 by the pro-business Liberal Party. The results signal confrontations with Beijing and Hong Kong's leadership.
