Dispute over boarding bridges
Article Abstract:
FMC-Jetway is suing CIMC-TianDa Airport Support for allegedly designing, producing and deploying passenger boarding bridges which are substantially and deceptively similar to Jetway's proprietary designs. FMC earlier lost an order for 13 apron-drive bridges for Houston International Airport to CIMC-TianDa, a company based in China. In the suit, FMC-Jetway provided 66 design points to support its petition for an injunction against the company and its subsidiary CIMC-TianDa America. In a 1993 co-production deal, FMC-Jetway gave TianDa documents revealing its designs so they can jointly manufacture bridges for the Asian market.
