DoCoMo joins the tech slump; investments outside Japan result in parent company's first loss
Article Abstract:
Japan's largest mobile phone company, NTT DoCoMo Inc., reported a sales increase of 18% for the six months ending September 30th, but net income was down 52% from one year earlier. Foreign investments are attributed to the drop. The firm took a write-down for its investment in KPN Mobile NV. Next year it might have to do the same with an investment in AT&T Wireless Inc.
