Doors on a fast track
Article Abstract:
Manchester Airport, Terminal 2 has been built under fast track conditions, necessitating standardised and prefinished components. The doors in the building allow ease of access combined with security, fire resistance and durability. The main entrance doors are automatic circular bi-parting, enabling disabled people and those with baggage trolleys easy access. Sliding glazed doors protect the shops on the concourses while secure areas have glass and steel automatic single opening doors. Other public and staff doors are supplied by Leaderflush to four specifications depending on use. Upwards rolling baggage doors operate quickly and automatically.

Canopy for a loading dock
Article Abstract:
One of the particular features of the new Waitrose distribution centre is the design of the 32 loading bays, which have a curved canopy to protect them from the weather. It is hung from metal rods connected to vertical masts on the face of the warehouse, and the canopy edge is slightly upturned to channel rainwater away. It is made from a curved universal beam with Verho curved metal decking roofing. The loading bays also feature a rubber buffer connected to a concrete upstand.
