Doughty grabs Merrill man for dotcom debut

Stephen Marquardt, former head of European technology at Merrill Lynch, will be responsible for raising a $500 million technology fund at Doughty Hanson. He has employed George Powlick and Nigel Grierson from Intel Capital to attract investors to the fund, which will be raised in dollars and will provide equity of between $5 million and $50 million. Marquardt is looking particularly at IPO opportunities, and is attracted to Europe's technology bourses.

Moulton and Apax plan for a future apart
