Dual Shock pour Playstation

Sony, which sold 32.82mn of its Playstation consoles world-wide including 19.37mn units sold during the fiscal year ended on 31 March 1998, is to introduce its Dual Shock Console Pack for Playstation in Belgium. The introduction is to happen in the week-end of 6 and 7 June 1998. The new product, priced at around BFr 6,000, features a 'soundscope', which allows to display kaleidoscopic patters on the TV screen when a CD is introduced on the console. The product also includes a non-digital controller which generates vibrations and allows to better 'feel' the game compared to the conventional digital joystick. *

In a context where the Internet securitization market should grow by 50% a year to reach US$ 6.9bn in the year 2001 according to the Datamonitor cabinet, Gemplus has introduced Gem-Safe. The smart-card based solution stores the user's digital identity on a smart card which has to be inserted into a reader, before the user types his PIN personal ID number. The reader can be installed on any computer with either the Windows 95 or NT operating systems. The kit is priced at US$ 99.

Vobis Microcomputer wants to deploy a new computer outlet concept closely related to work, leisure and training. In Belgium, the European computer goods distribution giant is about to open a new Superstore outlet in Ghent and a number of franchise units in Alost, Mons, Ostend, Turhout and Wavre. The group, which has a 80 staff in Belgium, has just opened its fifth Superstore outlet in Charleroi.
